Discrete and continuous BKP equations

Discrete BKP hierarchy and its pfaffian solution were constructed by Miwa, Hirota and Tsujimoto. It is known that the discrete BKP and continuous BKP hierarchies are connected via Miwa transformation. In this talk, we will show a BKP bilinear equation with both positive and negative flows can be constructed from the discrete BKP equation as well via Miwa transformation. Moreover, a shallow water wave equation and the reduced Ostrovsky equation can be derived by reductions. Based on this finding, we are able to construct semi-discrete BKP equation and further semi-discrete reduced Ostrovsky equation. Some open problems will also be discussed.

冯宝峰,教授,冯宝峰教授毕业于清华大学获得应用物理学及应用数学双学士学位。后留学日本获得京都大学博士学位。现任德克萨斯大学大河谷分校数学与统计学院终身教授。冯宝峰教授从事非线性科学尤其是可积系统方面的研究,迄今在国际刊物上发表论文近100余篇,在2019年世界华人数学大会上作45分钟邀请报告。冯宝峰教授曾先后获得两项美国国防部,四项美国自然科学基金,一项斯隆基金以及两项中国自然科学基金海外及港澳学者合作基金共约150万美元的资助。目前冯宝峰教授担任国际知名杂志 Physica D编辑。
