ABSTRACT

We present a class of primal-dual interior-point relaxation methods for nonlinear programs. The methods are of the interior-point variety, but not require any primal or dual iterates to be interior-points, thus provide a new approach for improving interior-point methods. Some smoothing methods are introduced, the topics including the system for search directions, the merit function for step sizes and the update of barrier and penalty parameters are discussed.
