Clarke Subdifferential of Moreau
Envelopes and Hypoconvex Optimization

报告摘要：
Moreau envelopes play an important role in variational analysis and optimization. In this talk, we show that the Clarke subdifferential of Moreau envelopes of prox-bounded functions can characterize hypoconvex functions, while this nice feature fails for the Mordukhovich limiting subdifferential. Moreover, we establish that the Mordukhovich symmetric subdifferential of the Moreau envelope of a prox-bounded function coincides with its Clarke subdifferential. Thus, an equivalent relation also holds for the Mordukhovich symmetric subdifferential. Applications and algorithmic consequences in hypoconvex optimization are given.

王宪福，加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚大学（UBC）数学系终身教授、博士生导师。先后获加拿大西蒙菲莎大学博士学位，加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚大学博士后。
研究领域聚焦变分分析、非光滑分析、凸分析与优化，学术成果丰硕。主持加拿大国家研究项目等各类课题近20项，在《Mathematical Programming》，《SIAM Journal of Optimization》，《Transactions of The Americal Mathematical Society》等国际顶级学术刊物发表SCI收录论文80余篇。同时担任著名国际刊物JOTA , J. of Convex Analysis编委，《Communications in Mathematical Analysis》等期刊副主编，在领域内具有广泛学术影响力。
