报告摘要:This lecture will be addressed to a wide audience:  students in Mathematical or Computer Sciences, including Probability and Statistics, PhD students in these areas, young researchers and professionals. It will be shown how to combine diverse arguments to solve intriguing problems from the above areas.  Sometimes the solutions can be obtained quite elegantly by using ideas and techniques from Probability with these being the only available solutions.

Some of the following topics will be discussed in detail:

· Combinatorial identities.

· Algebraic systems with or without solutions.

· Diophantine equations and games with infinitely many casino numbers.

· Bernoulli’s LLN and Weierstrass’s theorem by Bernstein’s polynomials.

· Old Uspensky’s problem and its far-reaching extensions.

· Values of the Riemann zeta function via Cauchy’s distribution.

· Some exercises and open questions.

Questions/suggestions from the audience during or after the lecture will be very welcome.
