In the study of a semisimple algebraic group G, a key role is played by a certain associated finite group called the Weyl group, which in some sense is the skeleton of G. In this lecture we try to show (using ideas in the theory of total positivity) that several concepts related to G can be presented purely in terms of the Weyl group.
