Program on Representation Theory and Complex Geometry

Venue: W303 School of Mathematics

Dates: November 29—December 10, 2021

Representation theory and complex geometry are two deeply interacted mathematical fields that have been and are still being extensively studied by mathematicians. In the past two decades, a great deal of achievements have been made in these fields, such as geometric representation theory/Langlands duality, quantum cohomology/Gromov-Witten theory, Donaldon-Thomas theory, and much more. This program tries to give a flavor of these rapidly-growing fields, by first introducing some basic concepts and techniques such as Lie algebras, Grassmannians and flag varieties, and then giving several examples and applications such as the geometry of nilpotent orbits, the Hitchin systems and mirror symmetry.
