Creation of Zero-Sum Theory and Some related Invariants

报告摘要：Zero-sum theory has formed a new branch of combinatorial number theory, which studies the zero-sum (or zero-sum free) sequences over finite groups and some related invariants. In this talk, we will discuss the creation of Zero-sum Theory, mention the two starting points of this theory: (1). the EGZ theorem; (2). Introducing the Davenport constant. We will also discuss some recent work regarding several important invariants including the Davenport constant D(G) and the Gao constant E(G).
专家简介：Yuanlin Li(李元林)教授于1997年获加拿大纽芬兰纪念大学(Memorial University of Newfoundland）博士学位，之后在阿尔伯塔大学（University of Alberta）做博士后。先后在纽芬兰纪念大学(MUN)、渥太华大学(University of Ottawa) 以及布鲁克大学(Brock University)任教。现为布鲁克大学终身教授，博士生导师。研究领域主要是群论，环论以及组合数论。 从1998 年开始，先后主持，完成6项加拿大国家自然科学基金项目，并在<<J.Algebra>>、<<J. Pure and Applied Algebra>>,<<Canadian J. Math>> 、<<J. Number Theory>>, <<J. Combin. Theory Ser. A>>,《Israel J. Math>>等国际著名学术杂志上发了100多篇学术论文。
