ABSTRACT
Recall that a positive integer is called a congruent number if it is the area of a right triangle with rational side lengths. The congruent number problem (CNP, for short) is to determine whether a given integer is congruent or not. The Goldfeld conjecture for elliptic curves related to congruent numbers is a central topic in the study of CNP. In this talk, we introduce recent progress on this conjecture, which is based on our joint works with A. Burungale and with Yuan-Zhang.
