报告摘要:
The stabilization of control systems has a rich history dating back to some of the earliest human inventions. One of the first known regulators was the water clock (or clepsydra), attributed to Ctesibius, a mechanician from the early third century B.C. From the same era, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System (DIS) stands out as another prominent example. In the industrial era, Watt’s governor became a landmark achievement, ensuring the steady velocity of steam engines. Today, feedback control principles are ubiquitous, shaping industries and even daily life. This lecture explores, mainly in the context of mathematics, some important steps in the evolution of control system stabilization, from historical mechanisms to contemporary mathematical advancements, concluding with recent applications for river regulation.
